Glaucoma care: from hospital to community

Abstract: Glaucoma is the important leading cause of irreversible blindness. It was estimated that there is 15 million glaucoma in China, while 90% of them were undiagnosed. Community-based screening and intervention should be stressed. To improve of the adherence of glaucoma treatment or follow-up, community clinic and less-dependence of experts would play an important role. Glaucoma care shifting from the hospital to the community is an inevitable way to achieve eye care for all citizen. (Ophthalmol CHN, 2015, 24: 143-144)
